FOLLOWER mode
In this mode, THRALL follows the incoming MIDI clock and converts it into DFAM-compatible clock pulses. The DFAM’s internal sequencer locks to the tempo of your DAW or groovebox. A reset signal is sent automatically on MIDI Start, ensuring clean phase alignment every time the transport starts. Sequence length is adjustable, and swing can be applied to give the DFAM a more human groove. Four MIDI CCs are also available on the four CV outputs.
DRIVER mode
This is where THRALL really changes the game. Each step of the DFAM sequencer is mapped to a MIDI note, so you can play it like a proper drum machine from any MIDI sequencer. Velocity is converted to CV, giving expressive control over the level of each hit. On top of velocity, three MIDI CCs are also converted to CV, opening the door to real-time modulation straight from your DAW.
BASSLINE mode
In this mode, THRALL turns the DFAM into a fully-fledged melodic synth. Pitch is sent as 1V/oct CV, in mono or duophonic mode, with a trigger signal to fire the envelope. The DFAM’s internal sequencer remains locked to MIDI clock. Two 1V/oct CV outputs are provided, alongside velocity and one MIDI CC — enough to explore the DFAM’s sonic range well beyond percussion.
With THRALL, the DFAM is no longer an isolated satellite in a hybrid setup — it becomes a fully-fledged instrument, fully integrated into any MIDI production chain.
