The Polymoog Resonator is a circuit in a class of its own: a bank of filters that shapes sound more than it simply equalises it. For a long time, I’ve wanted to build a dedicated, standalone version — something easy to integrate into a setup.

This project is a clone of the Polymoog resonator, built here in a 19″ rack format — a first for me. I designed a custom PCB and a dedicated power supply, with the aim of ending up with a clean, robust unit that’s enjoyable to use — something conceived as a proper studio tool.
I also adapted part of the selection logic: the original mechanical switch was replaced with a CD4017 driven by a momentary push-button. The goal was to keep the gesture simple and reliable — and a bit more “logical” in use — while staying true to the spirit of the circuit.

I’m not chasing a fetishistic replica — more a way to make the design accessible, understandable, and usable day to day; the kind of machine you switch on, put your hands on, and that immediately makes you want to play.
